Section
One: Overview
Getpress.com, an innovative and flourishing online public
relations service provider, approached the Boston Intelligence
Group, Inc. (B.I.G., Inc.) for the purpose of seeking consultation
on revising its existing computer network management system.
At the heart of Getpress.com's concerns was the desire to
relocate existing computer servers, and change the existing
management component of the company's official website (www.getpress.com).
Section
Two: Strategy
Following a full executive-level briefing with officials from
Getpress.com, B.I.G. agreed to script a phased-in proposal
designed to resolve Getpress.com's immediate and long-term
needs. It was agreed to that central to the devised strategy
would be the development of executive-level communications
from Getpress.com leadership to existing vendors, an aggressive
timeline for transition and implementation, and identified
resources for the transfer of server and web site management.
Given
the quick turnaround requested for the new strategy, B.I.G.
was asked to present a plan to Getpress.com for approval on
short notice.
Section
Three: Tactics
B.I.G. convened a management meeting and outlined a plan that
included:
- Detailing
the logistics of the server relocation, including the need
to maintain company connectivity during the physical relocation
of all equipment.
- New
vendor partnership options, with full price quotes and detailed
responsibilities for new vendors.
- Step-by-step
server conversion plan with estimated time and cost of physical
relocation.
- A full
internet management plan for the hosting, maintenance and
ongoing support of the Getpress.com web site.
B.I.G.
developed and submitted this plan to the executive team at
Getpress.com ahead of schedule.
Section Four: Results
Getpress.com agreed in full to the terms of the B.I.G transition
plan for the server and web site, and adopted each strategy
in full.
The smooth
transition of server relocation was carried out without any
problems, and a new vendor relationship was secured for Getpress.com
by B.I.G. Additionally, Getpress.com agreed to have B.I.G.
assume the day-to-day management of the company's web site
- including the responsibility for maintaining the hosting
agreements and contracts currently in possession by Getpress.com.
